FORT WORTH, TX: A severe windstorm has hit Texas Wesleyan University carrying rams, frogs, sharks and dinosaurs. Damage has occurred to the West Library and other buildings across campus.
The tragic passing of beloved mascot Wilamae has hit the community as a result of the severe weather conditions. The university is working to assess damages and provide resources for the community. As the ramnado dissipates and heads toward the University of Texas at Arlington the natural disaster remains unpredictable. Texas Wesleyan is continuing to monitor the situation alongside the National Faux Weather Service.
“Our top priority as a university is ensuring the safety of our community. We are working to safely evacuate the campus and will be seeking assistance in providing necessary physical and mental health resources following the incident,” Senior Public Relations Director Eli Chambers said.
With the help of first responders, the city of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, Wesleyan is working to safely evacuate the campus. Plans are being made to provide alternative shelter as the situation continues to be assessed. In the instance that students on campus may be displaced, the university and city and looking to provide temporary housing.
Information about the memorial of Wilamae will be posted on Wesleyan’s website. The university wants to make it a priority to come back together stronger than ever and remind us of the true meaning of RAMILY.
As the storm dissipates and heads to wards Univeristy of Texas at Arlington, first responders are making their way to the Texas Wesleayn campus. Everyone is encouraged to remain indoors until the responders arrive to safely assist with evacuations. The status of the mavericknados is still unpredictable. Safety is our number one concern and so we urge you to keep up with our alerts and co-operate with the first responders that are coming to help.
It breaks our hearts to inform our community that Wilamae has passed away from the effects of the weather disaster. A beloved memeber of Texas Wesleyan’s spirit team and the heart of the RAMILY, Wilamae served our school with love and pride. We send our condolonces to all.
We have been alerted that all buildings on campus have been impacted by the weather that has escalated to a severe ramnado. The severity of the situation urges us to continue to encourage the shelter in place orders and for those on campus to stay connected/get in touch with loved ones and keep them updated on your safety.
As of 10:44 a.m. regular operations at Texas Wesleyan University have been cancelled. Memebers of the community are advised to remain indoors as we continue to monitor the situation. Until we can assess damages and ensure student, staff and faculty safety, we will not be returning to classes.
Texas Wesleyan on High Alert due to Severe Weather Warning
FORT WORTH, TX: An announcement from Cold Weather Service alerted the university of a severe weather watch that has now escalated to a warning. The threat, which originated on the TCU campus, has now expanded to east of I-35 and is heading towards Texas Wesleyan campus. The community has been alerted to remain in shelter and avoid rooms with windows and rams as we continue to work out the severity of the situation. The safety of the campus is the top priority. The university will continue to provide updates on our website and social media.
The severe weather watch has been upgraded to a warning. Students, staff and faculty should remain indoors and avoid rooms with large windows and rams, as to avoid what may be a potential Ram NATO.
